Andre had been placed in work twice before by other programmes. Both times he was gone inside two weeks — once over a transport problem, once over a misunderstanding with a supervisor nobody helped him resolve.
MEDVETS placed him with a fabrication shop and then did the part that usually gets skipped: a coordinator called him and his supervisor every week for three months.
The job was not the hard part. Staying was the hard part, and that is the bit they actually helped with. Andre T., apprentice welder
When the transport problem surfaced again in week three, it was solved in a day. When friction with a shift lead came up in week seven, both sides had someone to call.
Andre is now in his second year at the shop, holds two welding certifications and trains the apprentices MEDVETS sends after him.
