MEDVETS

Local impact. Lasting change.

Community Development

Boots-on-the-ground means exactly that. MEDVETS crews show up in neighbourhoods and leave behind repairs, resources and relationships.

Mission Overview

What this mission does

Community Development is how MEDVETS keeps its promise to be present rather than programmatic. We ask neighbourhoods what they need, then send a crew — not a consultant.

Projects range from accessibility ramps and home repairs for elderly veterans, to rehabilitating community centres, clearing lots, and standing up resource drives after storms and shutdowns.

Every project is run as a joint operation: veteran crew leads, youth apprentices working alongside them, and residents in the loop from the first planning meeting.

Purpose & Objectives

  • Deploy veteran crews to the projects neighbourhoods actually ask for.
  • Restore neglected community spaces to active use.
  • Coordinate rapid response when local disasters hit.
  • Build the local partnerships that outlast any single project.
